Lately, the David Wilcox mailing list has had a good deal of fun writing parodies to David's songs. I've collected the efforts on these pages. I hope you enjoy.

Now dinner’s made and it’s on the table.
You worked hard to make this dish.
Food’s chopped, diced and simmered,
And this time it isn’t fish.
Five lil’ hungry children
Through the kitchen door,
“Yuk, Mom! What’s that green stuff?
We’ve never seen that before!”
Eat it like it is, never mind the yucky stuff,
Don’t like it like it is?... That’s tough!
Now when the kids cried, you gave them a lecture
You told them it tastes really good.
Kids starvin’ over in China
Would be glad to have your food.
Other folks come over to dinner
They all want this delicacy
They say, “Tastes great! How’d you make it?”
“Can we have the recipe?”
So I... Leave it like it is
never mind, kids criticize
Leave it like it is... it’s fine!
Now most moms suffer in sorrow
Thinkin’ they just can’t cook
They don’t match their mother’s cooking
As close as they think they should.
They try to cook just like the gourmets
Martha Stewart would be impressed
So tell the kids, “just eat the food!”
They will if they know what’s best.
Eat it like it is, never mind the yucky stuff
Don’t like it like it is?....that’s tough!
