Almost Dave

Almost Dave: It’s Almost Shine

Lately, the David Wilcox mailing list has had a good deal of fun writing parodies to David's songs. I've collected the efforts on these pages. I hope you enjoy.

Just over that hill where the law don’t go,
The still’s burning hot right now.
And even when the weather is a little cold,
I can still feel that warmth somehow.

And I know that I’ll make moonshine
Just as long as I don’t get caught.
I can hold on fine, ’cuz it’s almost ’shine.
I’ll be glad when it’s no longer hot.

I know that I should not have put in all that corn
A very potent mix.
But the neighbors say they’re feeling so forlorn,
And they really need their fix.

And I know that I’ll make moonshine
Just as long as I don’t get caught.
I can hold on fine, ’cuz it’s almost ’shine.
I’ll be glad when it’s no longer hot.

When the corn is gone and the beans are too,
And the ingredients are rare
I’m glad I froze stuff,
’Cuz I know it’d be rough
To make moonshine when the cupboard’s bare.

And... I... know that I’ll make moonshine
Just as long as I don’t get caught.
I can hold on fine, ’cuz it’s almost ’shine.
I’ll be glad when it’s no longer hot.
