Well, it's official. I'll be headed home on Sunday. I get to enjoy my kitties and take care of some much-unattended chores. Seems like it's been such a long time. Shoot, it *HAS* been a long time! There's so much I need to do after being away for so long.
Did I mention that the project I'd worked on for the past three months was a roaring success? That came as wonderful news here. But the down side is that everybody I'd worked with is gone and I'm abandoned. :^) Jungie is back home in the Philippines, and will be headed to Australia in December. Andy is back in Hong Kong, probably switching jobs to be a professional karayoke singer (it's karaoke here, by the way). Paul, Dale, Jit, and Adam are on a different project over in Maihama, near here. That leaves me, a team of translators, and those who are here for the duration. The room I've been in is pretty quiet, reduced by about (uncounted) seventy people or so. As I was leaving the office late yesterday evening, I saw Sanity checking out the place, to see if it was safe to return next week. I had the opportunity to speak to Sanity for a while, and frankly I wasn't impressed. :^) I asserted that I'd be gone by the end of the week, and that seemed to reassure her, so I guess it's mutual. :^)
It's likely, though, that the List of Things To Do at Home will remain partially unchecked, since 7 days later, I'll be headed back to here (technically, Maihama), to stay until late March. It's a different project, but with the same company.
So that's the update. There's a bit of a melancholy about leaving this project; it's become part of my life. But I'm certain the new challenges will more than compensate for that.
Oh, by the way... it's notable that my spelling checker recognizes "Maihama" as a misspelling of "Mayhem." Hmmmm....
